What is RCIA?

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

We're so glad you stopped by, and we thank the Holy Spirit for guiding you to this page.

So, what is the RCIA?
The Rite of Christain Initiation for Adults is a journey where one learns about the Catholic Faith and moves toward joining the Church. This journey moves at the speed of each individual who participates. As the journey is more than just informational, that is learning what we believe, and more formational, allowing oneself to be formed into the faith, we cannot say it will take X number of weeks for you to get there.

As with any journey into uncharted territory, you will need a guide. We have a team of guides who will help you along the way. They will guide, support, and instruct you; gradually introducing you to the Catholic faith and way of life. We say way of life, because being Catholic is not something we do on Sunday mornings, being Catholic is a mindset and a way of living.

Two groups meet together in the RCIA journey: Catechumens and Candidates.

Catechumens are non-baptized adults who desire to be fully initiated into the Roman Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Initiation – Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. During this process, which is marked by regular ritual acts, participants are introduced to the liturgy, the teachings, and the life of the Catholic Church.

Candidates are baptized adult Catholics or Christians who desire full communion in the Roman Catholic Church seeking complete initiation through the sacraments of the Eucharist and Confirmation. Candidates are prepared in a similar way for the sacraments of Confirmation and the Eucharist during their reception into the Catholic Church.

* RCIA class will start September 8, 2021.  Classes meet on Wednesdays from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
