Women in the Church Segment #3-Tuesday, July 15, 9:30AM or Wednesday, July 16, 7:00PM--This week Sr. Marie Luisa will give a presentation on St. Catherine of Siena. Catherine lived in the 14th Century. She was a very prayerful Dominican Sister who was a counselor, reformer, peacemaker, reconciler, healer and a powerful public voice. She emphasized conscience and individual holiness. Her life was steeped in prayer.

The following Tuesday and Wednesday (July 22nd and 23rd), Gerry will present Thea Bowman. Thea was a lively, energetic woman who joined the Franciscan Sisters. She is best known for preserving her black culture in the Church, especially through singing Spirituals and sharing the faith as it was handed down to her. Thea’s motto was, “I’m gonna live till I die.”

Our final series on Women in the Church, featuring St. Teresa of Avila will be held at 9:30AM and 7:00PM on Wednesday July 30th, only. Fr. Jerry Plotkowski will focus strongly on St. Teresa’s prayer life. St Teresa was a worldly young nun who became an independent thinker, a theologian of contemplative life, a reformer of the Carmelite Order and a Doctor of the Church.
